Wisconsin Boating Safety Education Course

Wisconsin DNR Certified Boating Safety Instructors will host a Wisconsin Boating Safety Education Course March 26, 27, and 28 2012 from 5:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. at the Milton Community House, located at 20 Parkview Drive, Milton, WI 53563.  Students must attend all three days in order to receive a certificate.

 

Anyone 12 years of age and older is welcome to attend this class.  There is no maximum age and parents and adults are also encouraged to enroll and participate.

 

Pre-registration is requested by contacting the Milton Police Department at 608-868-6910 ext 22.  The course fee is $10, which covers all necessary materials.  Persons successfully completing the course will receive a boating safety certificate.  Classes will cover boating safety topics such as rules of the road, equipment requirements, rules and regulations, ethics, responsibility, basic navigation and first aid.

New Requirement:   All WI Recreational Safety Students are required to obtain a WI DNR Customer ID Number before the completion of any Recreational Safety Class and will also be required to provide that WI DNR Customer ID Number along with students personal information to the instructor. Who is eligible/required to take a class?

Wisconsin boating safety certification or out of state equivalent certification is required for operators born after January 1, 1989 and at least 16 years of age. Operators 12 to 15 years of age must either have a certificate or have an adult on board while operating.
