Since 2011, IDS has been holding its biggest fundraising event, the Wild, Wild, West Hoedown, at Kutter Harley-Davidson. This year it will be held at Boardtracker Harley-Davidson in the Rudi Kutter Memorial Pavilion. The venue is the same, and the catering and decorations will again be provided by Best Event Catering. However, the event has gone through some significant changes in hopes that it will see the largest turnout in its history. The changes made have been in response to past attendees’ opinions as well as analysis of other non-profit fundraising events. IDS’ Event Committee felt it was time for the Hoedown to mature and cater to an adult crowd. Therefore, this year’s event is being advertised as an adults-only event. One of the biggest changes this year is the band. “Thirsty Jones” is a hot southern country/rock band based out of Madison, providing high-energy entertainment coupled with dynamic solos and will be sure to get the guests up on the dance floor. Another change will be the offerings at the Saloon (cash bar). Guests will have their beer choice of Grey’s Honey Ale and Busted Knuckle. For those who are not beer fans, there is a choice of red or white wine and Grey’s Rock Hard Red, which is a fruit-flavored malt beverage. There will also be several kinds of soda and water. This year, Megan O’Leary Photography will be on hand to take photos of patrons at the Red Barn photo op, and there will be two contests for the “Best Getup” and “Best Belt Buckle.” The medals that will go to the winners are sure to create some fun bragging rights. Due to their popularity, some things will be the same as last year like the Photo Booth. What’s not to love about donning fake mustaches, funny hats, and glasses with a free commemorative photo at the end? Texas Roadhouse peanuts will still be on every table and the Silent Auction will be bigger and better than ever, and of course, 50/50 raffles will be offered several times during the evening. A few more additions include dessert items from the famous Lane’s Bakery in Madison and a raffle drawing for a gas grill generously donated by Harris Ace Hardware and booze barrow. For the fifth straight year, BMO Harris Bank has generously filled the role as Grand Marshal Sponsor! The support from businesses like BMO Harris Bank make this event possible and help IDS fulfill its mission to improve the quality of life for adults, children, and families impacted by disabilities and special needs through their Independent Living and Respite programs. The event time has also been changed to allow for guests to get into their best getups! The event will now start at 6:00 pm and end at 9:00. Tickets are $30 or two for $50 and are available online at www.WildWildWestHoedown.com, at the IDS office (2100 E. Milwaukee Street), or by phone at 608-754-5552.
